Usko Ayar and Sumaq Ňusta
The Angels of Sacred Union
Here stand Usko Ayar and Sumaq Ňusta, their names in Quechua mean “spiritual prince” and “beautiful princess” respectively.
Behind them is the celestial Qorikancha, this means “golden temple” in Quechua. They represent the spiritual alchemy of what we call the “Sacred Union” or the Hieros gamos. They belong to the Divine Order of the Virtues; Usko Ayar embodies the sacred masculine principle and Sumaq Ňusta embodies the sacred feminine principle.
Historically, the Sacred Union has been regarded as a sacramental ritual marriage between a king and queen or god and goddess; its very essence is the union between two souls.
